We will be taking optimum advantage of the good weather we get and if all goes well we will endeavour to have a WATER DAY whenever possible so please leave some appropriate extra clothing at Centre for your child.

COVID 19: Public Health Guidance for Childcare Settings
http://www.bccdc.ca/Health-Info-Site/Documents/COVID19_PublicHealthGuidanceChildcareFacilities.pdf
If you’re ill – stay at home.
Within childcare settings, children and staff will often have influenza or other respiratory viruses with symptoms similar to COVID-19 (i.e., influenza). For this reason, all children and staff who are ill with fever, have cold, influenza or infectious respiratory symptoms of any kind need to stay home. If children and staff have symptoms, self-isolate for a minimum of 10 days from the onset of symptoms and until symptoms have completely resolved. Please bring a DOCTOR’S NOTE when the child comes back to the Centre.
If you are at all unsure of your status, the BC Centre for Disease Control’s online assessment tool can help you assess whether you should stay home or not.
Please encourage your child to practice the following:
Six steps to proper handwashing
- Wet hands with warm running water.
- Apply a small amount of liquid soap. Antibacterial soap is not required.
- Rub hands together for at least 20 seconds (sing the ABC’s). Rub palms, backs of hands, between fingers and under nails and creating a lather.
- Rinse off all soap with running water.
- Dry hands with a clean, disposable towel.
- Discard the used towel in the waste container.
Children should wash their hands…
• When they arrive at the centre and before they go home
• Before eating and drinking
• After a diaper change, using the toilet
• After playing outside or handling pets
• After sneezing or coughing into hands
• Whenever hands are visibly dirty.

Infant Toddler AND Daycare Montessorri
In July we celebrated Canada Day – we hope you enjoyed the cards etc coming home and the poster boards and windows in the classrooms.
In July we also continued the theme of SEED SCIENCE and focused on the LIFE CYCLE OF A PLANT – the children were excited to see the seeds they planted (at the Centre) growing over a period of time . We covering ‘parts of a plant ‘ eg petals, seed, stem ,leaves, roots etc.
Please encourage and engage your children in sharing their knowledge about the life cycle of a plant at home.
Also please check on our website and fb page for updates with pictures as children shared their learning.
The Theme for August will be Nature and Art :
Nature inspires and helps children with creative play, concentration, and to develop problem solving skills. Exploring, discovering and experiencing nature also helps children to boost their gross motor and fine motor skills. Children will have the opportunities to learn through their senses by using their limitless imagination to engage with each other and to the natural materials available, to explore, discover and experience them in the process. We will also bring art material such as paint, collage, paper, pencils, etc to use them with the natural material for the childrens’ expression and creativity. Connecting with nature is one of the best ways to help children learn and build relationship with nature and to promote social skills. It will help children to develop team work and cooperation in a calming environment. Nature and art theme is planned to engage children with their mind, body and spirit which in turn helps children with a wholesome experience.
Please send them with appropriate dressing and footwear in order to have a safe and rewarding experience.
We will continue to talk about Stay Safe and Healthy :
- We will be encouraging children to stay safe and healthy doing various indoor and outdoor activities during the day.
- We will also continue to work on the six steps of hand washing as suggested by the Ministry.
- Please encourage children to bring healthy and nutritious lunch and snacks at the Centre. We will also have an outdoor picnic lunch whenever possible.
- We will also encourage children to drink water throughout the day.
- Feel free to talk to Gulzar if you have any questions.
NOTE : REMINDERS TO ALL OUR PARENTS:
- Please ensure your child has indoor shoes which they change into when they arrive at the Centre and which stay at the Centre when leaving.
- Please have a change of clothes at the Centre , in case they are needed.
- Please label all you food containers and let us know if any food needs to be heated (note also: as you are aware, ours is a ‘NUT-FREE’ Centre.)
- Please arrive on time especially if your child is attending the Montessori – this helps keep disruption to the minimum.
- Please inform us immediately if there are any changes eg address, telephone, contacts.
- Please ensure you have all your child’s belongings when you are leaving and take home their work etc.
- Please inform us as early as possible (by 9am – would be great) if your child is not attending the Centre that day.
- May we also suggest that you drop-off your child and leave soon thereafter. This makes the transition much easier and conducive to a good start to the day, both for the staff and the children.
We will continue to work on the following class rules at the outset and parents please help us by encouraging the same home. .
